How I Got Started In

Graphic Design & Branding

Like most stories, mine began with a little girl (me) and her newfound passion for collaging. Since I can remember, I’ve always been an arts and crafts kid. Making everything and anything you can imagine. In elementary art was my favorite subject and I always took it very seriously. Serious in the sense that I would get zoned in when creating and didn’t want to be bothered. Around the age of 13, I had a newfound obsession with collaging. Ripping and cutting magazines apart only to create something that, in my mind, was better. Needless to say, I had collages tapped to the closet door for a good while.

Now, let’s fast forward a couple of years to college. This is where the idea seed was planted. I went to college for ‘Digital Communications’. In simple terms “Digital communication is the use of online tools like email, social media messaging and texting to reach other individuals or a specific audience to share a message.” Although I was studying something that I had an interest in, taking classes about things that came so naturally to me felt, in a way, pointless. I ended up deciding to leave college. I was then at a point in my life where I didn’t know what I was going to do, or even really what I wanted to do.

Fast forward a little bit more and I landed a job working as an assistant and social media manager to real estate power player, Avi Sheleg. Before this job, I had no experience in managing social media or creating content for a company. I mean, I would create and design websites and fake marketing material for brands that didn’t even exist and for myself, but never before had I done anything like what I was about to do. Let’s just say that landing this job was like being dropped in the middle of the woods and being told to find your way out. I had all the personal knowledge, but not the real-life experience.

As the days went by, I asked a lot of questions, made a good amount of mistakes, observed, analyzed and learned. And to this day I’m still learning (To be fair I don’t think we ever stop learning) All this time, the idea of launching my own branding/ marketing company has been brewing. Here and there I would gather ideas and now the time has come.

I am pleased to present to you DRIVEN By design.
